AmeriStudent Sexual Harassment Prevention Policy

It is AmeriStudent, LLC’s (“AmerStudent, LLC”) policy to prohibit harassment of any student, employee, contractor, volunteer, family member or host family members, hereinafter referred to individually as (“AmeriStudent, LLC community members,”) by any other AmeriStudent, LLC community member. The purpose of this policy is not to regulate personal morality within the community, but is to ensure that all community members are free from sexual harassment. While it is not easy to define precisely what types of conduct could constitute sexual harassment, examples of prohibited behavior include unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, obscene gestures, displaying sexually graphic magazines, calendars or posters, sending sexually explicit emails, text messages and other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature, such as uninvited touching of a sexual nature or sexually related comments. Depending upon the circumstances, improper conduct may also include sexual joking, vulgar or offensive conversation or jokes, commenting about a AmeriStudent, LLC community member’s physical appearance, conversation about your own or someone else's sex life, or teasing or other conduct directed toward a person because of his or her gender which is perceived sufficiently severe or pervasive to create an unprofessional and hostile environment.
 
Anyone subject to this policy who suspects, witnesses or otherwise learns of any potential instance of sexual harassment must immediately report it to the appropriate party:

  • Host families must report to their local Local Coordinator.
  • Local Coordinators must report to a regional Homestay Manager.
  • The regional Homestay Manager must report to AmeriStudent, LLC’s Human Resource Department.
  • Tutors must report to Human Resource Department.

If you are unable for any reason to contact the appropriate individual, or if you have not received a satisfactory response within three (3) days after reporting any incident of what you perceive to be harassment or if the person toward whom the complaint is directed is one of the individuals indicated above, you should contact any higher-level manager within AmeriStudent, LLC or send email to support@ameristudent.com. Every report of perceived harassment will be investigated and corrective action will be taken where appropriate. Violation of this policy will result in disciplinary action, up to termination from AmeriStudent, LLC. All complaints will be kept confidential to the extent possible, but confidentiality cannot be guaranteed. In addition, AmeriStudent, LLC will not allow any form of retaliation against individuals who report unwelcome conduct to management or who cooperate in the investigations of such reports in accordance with this policy. AmeriStudent, LLC community members who make complaints in bad-faith may be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of relations with AmeriStudent, LLC. All AmeriStudent, LLC community members must cooperate with all investigations.
